title: Majorana bound states in interacting systems
abstract:
Evidence is building up for the existence of so-called Majorana bound states. In this talk, I start by giving an overview of `Majorana physics', comparing the Majorana particles the appear context of particle physics, where they might describe neutrinos, to Majorana bound states, that might have been observed in condensed matter systems. I will discuss the prototype model that hosts Majorana bound states (a topological super conductor dubbed the `Kitaev chain'), and explain how this model can be realised in condensed matter systems. If time permits, I will discuss the phase diagram of the Kitaev chain model in the presence interactions.
